‘Citizens and the Police’ is an interactive online course designed to provide participants with basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles, procedures, and practices of policing in Pakistan and their own role in community policing.

About the LMS / About #ApniZameenKeLiye

The ApniZameenKeLiye LMS will allow any citizen to sign up and learn about climate change activism in the form of an online course with localized content. Through a specially designed set of online lectures, this course aims to equip future generations of climate change activists and eco-entrepreneurs with the right tools and resources to expand in Pakistan’s ecosystem. 

Building on the legacy of the #ApniZameenKeLiye Online Bootcamp, the  LMS expands on the Youth Led Climate Action project by the British Council, through which 30 Pakistani climate change activists and eco-entrepreneurs were trained to expand their work on climate action mitigation. 

Led by industry experts, the #ApniZameenKeLiye LMS is the first of its kind in empowering and educating the future of Pakistan’s climate change activism.

Course 1

Impact Business Canvas By Hira Wajahat

This module will explain how the police are located within the wider state structure in Pakistan and how they work with different state institutions. This is important for the general audience to be able to understand the role and function of the institution.

Module 2

Police-Community Relations: Exploring engagement and partnership

This module is important for people to understand in brief terms what we mean about some of the concepts that will be used throughout the course. There are two purposes for this module. The first is to explain what ‘community policing’ is and why it is essential for good policing (that maintains public trust in the police). The second is to explain to the participant his/her role in engaging with the police (and why it is important for the civilians to engage with the police).

Police-Community Relations: Know your rights and learn about police oversight and accountability

This module will provide information about how citizens can report a crime or file a complaint and what they should expect from a visit to a police station. This module will also provide brief information about the relevant laws/regulations under which they can file FIRs or register complaints against police officers. Furthermore, this module will also describe the accountability and oversight structures in Pakistan. This is important for citizens to know how their police are kept accountable and how they can answer to the communities they serve.

Module 4

Your role in crime prevention and response

This module will explain and define some of the contemporary crimes in Pakistan (e.g. gender-based violence and street crime). After providing information about these crimes, the participants will learn the relevant laws pertaining to these crimes, how and where they can report these crimes (e.g. through hotlines) and other agencies that they can contact (e.g. police partner agencies, such as NGOs).

‘Citizens and the Police’ is created to enhance police-community relations in Pakistan by providing participants with basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles, procedures, and practices of policing in Pakistan. The course will also equip participants with information about legal frameworks and resources to actively partner with police in crime prevention and response.

There is no criteria, anybody can take this course.

This course is in English language.

The course is free of cost and there is no application fee either. You can sign up for free and start learning right away 

The maximum time required for a learner to complete the course is approximately 4-5 hours. However, this is a self-paced course and the learner will have the freedom to complete the course content at his/her pace.  

There is no minimum qualification required. However, the applicant should know and understand basic English in order to fully comprehend the content of the course.

Once you sign up for the course, you will have lifetime access to the course content.

After completion of the final quiz at the end of the course, you will receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ for this course certified by Police Awam Saath Saath. 

There will be a grand quiz at the end of the course where the learner will be required to score at least  60% to receive the certificate. 

The learner will be able to retake the quiz as many times as needed.

Course Contributors

The LMS includes 5 courses led by industry experts from the field in Pakistan, giving a specific context to the issues Pakistanis face in climate change mitigation along with valuable insights into the development sector of Pakistan, and how climate action initiatives can evolve and grow. 

Each course is followed by a Multiple Choice Questions based quiz to test the student’s understanding of the subject. Each Course also includes reading materials allocated by industry experts for a deep dive into the subject matter.
